Violent Night producer Kelly McCormick wants a sequel for Christmas, and reveals that plans are already in place to begin work on Violent Night 2. Provided that the first outing does well, of course. Speaking with Collider, McCormick explained that the next few weeks will determine whether David Harbour’s not-so-jolly Saint Nick will ride again in Violent Night 2.

"We're hoping to start working on a ‘Violent Night 2,’ if everything goes well the next few weeks. We have a tendency to just keep our heads down and focus on what's in front of us, or near. So yeah, that's kind of it. We're in it. We still have two and a half months of work to do on this one.”

Starring David Harbour, John Leguizamo, Beverly D'Angelo, Alex Hassell, Alexis Louder, Edi Patterson, Cam Gigandet, and André Eriksen, Violent Night finds Harbour’s Santa reaching into his sack and bringing out the big guns after a team of elite mercenaries breaks into a wealthy family compound on Christmas Eve, taking everyone inside hostage. But the team isn’t prepared for a surprise combatant: Santa Claus is on the grounds, and he’s about to show why this Nick is no saint.

From the creators of John Wick, Violent Night is directed by Tommy Wirkola (The Trip, Dead Snow), and introduces audiences to a very different take on the Christmas movie. With a mythology that it would be interesting to see expanded (hopefully) in a sequel.

David Harbour Wants Pedro Pascal & Oscar Isaac Added to Violent Night 2

Santa Claus himself, David Harbour, has already revealed what’s on his wish list for Violent Night 2. While the sequel is clearly in the very (very) early stages at present, Harbour wants to add The Mandalorian and The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal and Star Wars actor Oscar Isaac to proceedings. He even has roles in mind for the talented pair, with Harbour wanting Pascal to play the Easter Bunny and Isaac to play the Tooth Fairy. Presumably violent versions that can join his savage Santa on another action-packed adventure.

"We gotta get Pedro [Pascal] and Oscar [Isaac] to play the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy in the next iteration: the Santa cinematic universe with a bunch of ‘daddies’ as imaginary creatures,” Harbour said of his hopes for Violent Night 2.

Violent Night exploded onto screens on December 2 courtesy of Universal Pictures, and has so far been met with positive reviews and a healthy return at the box office. MovieWeb’s own Will Sayre heaped praise on David Harbour in the lead role saying, “But why did we really show up? Well, for most of us, all it took was the pilot episode of Netflix's Stranger Things to become Harbour fanatics. Harbour has been in the game for years. It's no surprise, then, that he takes command of Universal's latest holiday offering and delivers a unique blend of action and comedy that Wirkola has been known for. Harbour looks the part right down to the twinkle in his eye.”
