The British comic strip adventure Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future is being brought out of retirement by Virgin Comics. According to Variety, they will first publish a new comic book revolving around the space explorer, and then they will base a feature film on the property.

Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future has been described as Britain's answer to Buck Rogers. Virgin president Richard Branson has been a long time fan, and was responsible for the acquisition.

Branson stated, "Dan Dare is a heroic, thoughtful and fiercely independent character. I was an avid reader of his epic journeys." The new comic will debut in November. Virgin is in the process of finding the right director, writer, and producers to work on the film version of the project at this time.
