The most successful streaming Kickstarter in history has finally arrived on Prime Video. And now we know that the Rotten Tomatoes score for The Legend of Vox Machina is 100% fresh. It also has an audience score of 95%. It is an impressive score for the new series, which is based on the first campaign of the Twitch/YouTube series Critical Role. And it is a testament to how much hard work the cast of the show has put into it.

The Critic’s Consensus from Rotten Tomatoes states, “Fluidly animated and intelligently scripted. The Legend of Vox Machina is an addictive treat for fans of Dungeons and Dragons style RPGs.”

The Legend of Vox Machina follows a band of misfits as they try to save the world of Exandria from dark, magical forces. You know, so they can pay off their bar tab. It is a fun and sometimes raunchy adventure that should appeal to anyone who has ever played Dungeons and Dragons.

The main cast of The Legend of Vox Machina is the same as the Critical Role cast, as they have all returned to reprise their roles from Campaign One. The Vox Machina party is comprised of Vex’halia Vessar (Laura Bailey), Percival de Rolo (Taliesin Jaffe), Pike Trickfoot (Ashley Johnson), Vax’ildan Vessar (Liam O’Brien), Keyleth (Marisha Ray), Scanlan Shorthalt (Sam Riegel), and Grog Strongjaw (Travis Willingham).

Additional voices have been provided by Khary Payton, Stephanie Beatriz, Indira Varma, And David Tennant. These additional voices bring fans from outside the “Crittersphere” in to viewing the show.

Critical Role Set a Kickstarter Record

Prime Video

The Legend of Vox Machina was originally planned to be a one-shot animated special, the Critical Role team took to Kickstarter to fund the project. Critters responded quickly with their wallets, because they wanted to see their favorite heroes on the screen. The initial goal funded within hours, and the Critical Role team kept adding stretch goals and promising more episodes. When the campaign concluded having raised over $11.3 million, making it the most successful film or television project in Kickstarter history, per CNBC.

The Critical Role team intended to make one 10 episode season with that money, but Amazon Studios quickly took notice of just how popular the project was on Kickstarter and picked them up, immediately ordering a second season upon pickup. The news of the Amazon pickup made fans of Critical Role even more excited about the project, knowing they were going to get more of the show than they originally planned on.

Two seasons worth of The Legend of Vox Machina will lead to many episodes of fun interactions amongst the cast much like fans of the original Critical Role have come to expect. Critters, as those fans are called, are responsible for this new show airing and are not disappointed with how it has been presented.

The first three episodes of The Legend Of Vox Machina are available on Prime Video. Additional episodes will be released every Friday until all 12 episodes of the first season have been released. A second season has already been greenlit and will be released later on.
