Walk the Line power-walked into the top spot on both the DVD sales and rental charts the week ending March 5, easily beating a slate of high-profile competitors, says The Hollywood Reporter.

On VideoScan's First Alert, the Oscar-lauded Johnny Cash biopic, released on DVD by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, outsold second-ranked The Lady and the Tramp, from Buena Vista, by a nearly two-to-one margin, while third-ranked Pride and Prejudice, from Universal Studios, sold about 20% as many copies as Walk the Line its first week in stores.

The film also was a big hit in rental stores. Walk the Line generated an estimated $9.2 million in rental revenue its first week out, according to Home Media Retailing's video rental chart.
