Marvel announced the long awaited details of the upcoming WandaVision series due to arrive on Disney's streaming service, Disney+, in the spring of 2021. Fans have speculated about the series since Marvel first announced the title. During their Comic-Con panel of rotating stars, Marvel finally answered some of our questions. Standing in front of the WandaVision logo, Marvel Studios president Kevin Fiege had this to say.

"If you think that logo is strange...You should see what we're doing with this show."

As we learned at San Diego Comic-Con, WandaVision is set to air in the spring of 2021 and will feature returning stars Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff and Paul Bettany as Vision. Newcomer to the franchise, Teyonah Parris (Dear White People) will star as a grown up Monica Rambeau. Somehow, the series will take place after the events of Avengers: Endgame and feature characters we know from the MCU. The events that play out in the series will tie directly into Doctor Strange: IN the Multiverse of Madness, and Wanda will have a key role in the plot of that sequel.

Both Wanda and Vision have been featured in multiple MCU films leading up to this series. We were first introduced to Wanda Maximoff in Avengers: Age of Ultron. She's a young girl from the fictional country of Sakovia, who, along with her brother, Pietro Maximoff (AKA Quicksilver), has powers. In the film, HYDRA scientists experimented on them, giving them powers. In the MCU, they are called "enhanced" due to studio rights issues, but in the comics, they are commonly referred to as "mutants". Although her powers are never quite outlined or defined outside of Maria Hill's (Colby Smulder), "She's weird," the character is known as Scarlet Witch and can alter reality and perform powerful sorcery.

As Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) becomes increasingly paranoid about the threats to Earth, he pushes the ethical boundaries of technology. Together, he and Bruce Banner create the movie's main antagonist, Ultron. For much of the film, Wanda is a villain, but by the third act has joined the Avengers in the fight against the AI. Ironically, the only solution to the Ultron problem is to create another Intelligent being using the "mind stone" and Stark's computer technology. They name him Vision.

Throughout the subsequent films, Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, Wanda and Vision are in a romantic relationship with an aim to remain on the right side of history. Things don't exactly go their way. Wanda is blacklisted by the public, and Vision has to sacrifice himself to stop the titan, Thanos (Josh Brolin), by way of Wanda's sorcery. Bettany's Vision is absent from Avengers: Endgame entirely, but Wanda is seen doing major damage on the battle field.

So how, you ask, is this supposed to take place after Endgame? When asked this question, Paul Bettany only had this to say.

"I have no idea."

Either way, we are really excited to see where this goes! Check back with us for all your marvel news. This news was dropped on the official Marvel Studios Twitter.
