Summer's almost over. The stores are crowded with parents hunting for that perfect 'back to school' sale that won't break their pocket book. And the cinemas are slowly starting to shift from big action blockbusters and comedies to more serious awards fare. Warner Bros. is no different. The studio has unveiled their upcoming Fall and Holiday Movie preview. And while it has some exciting releases sure to rival anything we've seen over the course of these past four months, you can bet that there are some Oscar contenders in the mix as well.

The fall holiday season is going to be a big one for Warner Bros. They have 8 movies ready to launch from September all the way to Christmas day. These exciting and anticipated releases coming our way over the next 4 months include Black Mass, The Intern, Pan, Our Brand Is Crisis, The 33, Creed, In the Heart of the Sea and Point Break. Not only do we have updated synopses for these incoming dramas and adventures, we also have a bevy of new photos.

There are four movies here that could very well capture the attention of the Academy Awards. At the forefront is Warner Bros. first fall release Black Mass. In this true-life crime drama, Johnny Depp transforms himself into Irish mobster James "Whitey" Bulger, and his performance promises to chill you to the bone. It could be the first Best Actor Oscar win for the iconic thespian. Though he has been nominated for three Oscars, for his performances in Pirates of The Caribbean: The Curse of The Black Pearl, Sweeney Todd and Finding Neverland, he has never taken home the gold man.

In the Heart of the Sea also has a big chance of going home with Oscar gold. Directed by Ron Howard, it certainly packs the credentials for an awards season contender. Howard was nominated for Best Picture and Director for his 2009 true-life drama Frost/Nixon, following his win in both categories or the 2002 biopic A Beautiful Mind. Will this Warner Bros. release about the real tale behind Moby Dick nab him his third nomination and second win for director? It's possible. But there are plenty of great releases coming from other studios over the next four months, so competition will be fierce.

In the Heart of the Sea may even face competition from another Warner Bros. release, The 33. The true-life drama recounts the daunting ordeal of the 33 miners who were buried alive by the catastrophic explosion and collapse of a 100-year-old gold and copper mine back in 2010. The story certainly captured the attention of the world when it was happening live. Will it have the same impact on moviegoers five years later? It certainly has a cast to back up the heavy drama. And it's sure to bring a few unexpected thrills.

Warner Bros. isn't all about the Oscar this fall. They have laughs covered with the big comedy The Intern, which stars Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro. And if it's blockbuster thrills you're looking for, Pan will bring back fond memories of this past summer with its high-flying Peter Pan origin tale. Sylvester Stallone is set to return as Rocky in Creed, which will likely be a huge hit as the boxing franchise gets spun off into a new direction.

And then there is the action-packed Point Break reboot, which will be filled with extreme sports thrills and spills. Possibly the most unpredictable movie is Our Brand Is Crisis. Is it a comedy? A drama? Starring Sandra Bullock and directed by David Gordon Green, it could be anything. And it might even be another Oscar contender. Take a look at the releases heading our way this Fall from Warner Bros.

From director Joe Wright comes Pan, a live-action feature presenting a wholly original adventure about the beginnings of the beloved characters created by J.M. Barrie. Peter (Levi Miller) is a mischievous 12-year-old boy with an irrepressible rebellious streak, but in the bleak London orphanage where he has lived his whole life those qualities do not exactly fly. Then one incredible night, Peter is whisked away from the orphanage and spirited off to a fantastical world of pirates, warriors and fairies called Neverland. There, he finds amazing adventures and fights life-or-death battles while trying to uncover the secret of his mother, who left him at the orphanage so long ago, and his rightful place in this magical land. Teamed with the warrior Tiger Lily (Rooney Mara) and a new friend named James Hook (Garrett Hedlund), Peter must defeat the ruthless pirate Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman) to save Neverland and discover his true destiny, to become the hero who will forever be known as Peter Pan.

Our Brand is Crisis

In self-imposed retirement following a scandal that earned her nickname and rocked her to her core, Jane is coaxed back into the game for the chance to beat her professional nemesis, the loathsome Pat Candy (Billy Bob Thornton), now coaching the opposition. But as Candy zeroes in on every vulnerability, both on and off the campaign trail, Jane is plunged into a personal crisis as intense as the one her team exploits nationally to boost their numbers. Dramatic, rapid-fire and laced with satire, Our Brand Is Crisis reveals the cynical machinations and private battles of world-class political consultants for whom nothing is sacred and winning is all that matters.

In 2010, the eyes of the world turned to Chile, where 33 miners had been buried alive by the catastrophic explosion and collapse of a 100-year-old gold and copper mine. Over the next 69 days, an international team worked night and day in a desperate attempt to rescue the trapped men as their families and friends, as well as millions of people globally, waited and watched anxiously for any sign of hope. But 200 stories beneath the surface, in the suffocating heat and with tensions rising, provisions, and time, were quickly running out. A story of resilience, personal transformation and triumph of the human spirit, the film takes us to the Earth's darkest depths, revealing the psyches of the men trapped in the mine, and depicting the courage of both the miners and their families who refused to give up. Based on the gripping true story of survival-and filmed with the cooperation of the miners, their families and their rescuers, The 33 reveals the never-before-seen actual events that unfolded, above and below ground, which became nothing less than a worldwide phenomenon.

Once in the City of Brotherly Love, Adonis tracks Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) down and asks him to be his trainer. Despite his insistence that he is out of the fight game for good, Rocky sees in Adonis the strength and determination he had known in Apollo, the fierce rival who became his closest friend. Agreeing to take him on, Rocky trains the young fighter, even as the former champ is battling an opponent more deadly than any he faced in the ring. With Rocky in his corner, it isn't long before Adonis gets his own shot at the title...but can he develop not only the drive but also the heart of a true fighter, in time to get into the ring?

In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance. The real- life maritime disaster would inspire Herman Melville's Moby-Dick. But that told only half the story. Heart of the Sea reveals the encounter's harrowing aftermath, as the ship's surviving crew is pushed to their limits and forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive. Braving storms, starvation, panic and despair, the men will call into question their deepest beliefs, from the value of their lives to the morality of their trade, as their captain searches for direction on the open sea and his first mate still seeks to bring the great whale down.

The athletes are suspected of carrying out a spate of crimes in extremely unusual ways. Deep undercover, and with his life in imminent danger, Utah strives to prove they are the architects of this string of inconceivable crimes. The film is replete with the most daring athleticism ever seen in a motion picture. These action adventure feats are performed by elite athletes representing the world's best in class in big-wave surfing, wingsuit flying, sheer-face snowboarding, free rock climbing, and high-speed motorcycling.
