Warner Bros. has acquired the film rights to Larklight, a fantasy-adventure from British author Philip Reeve. Denise Di Novi will produce the movie.

According to Variety, Larklight is the first in a Victorian-era space adventure trilogy in which a brother and sister team with a band of renegade space pirates to save the world from destruction at the hands of a madman. Their large house, Larklight, travels in a remote orbit far beyond the moon as part of the British Empire's colonization of outer space. "It's an utterly original mix of the fantastical and historical" says Di Novi.

The book Larklight will be published this fall. Reeve's other books include Mortal Engines, Darkling Plain, Predator's Gold, Infernal Devices, and the Buster Bayliss series for younger readers.
