Warner Bros. and Capcom have stumbled onto Lost Planet, a film adaptation based on the popular Japanese videogame. David Hayter (Watchmen) will pen the screenplay.

According to Variety, Lost Planet was released in Japan in late 2006 and North America in early 2007, and has since sold over 2 million units. A sequel is believed to be in the works.

The videogame revolves around an expedition to an ice planet that harbors an energy source with the potential to save mankind.
