Fans of Sam are in for a treat! The cult classic Halloween film, Trick ‘r Treat, is officially coming to cinemas along with some other spine tingling favorites! The official Warner Bros. and Trick ‘r Treat Twitter accounts confirmed the good news!
Twitter user @dansferatu was the original sharer of the upcoming news. In their tweets, they posted that eight titles will be coming to Regal Cinemas in October. Warner Bros. then retweeted the announcement, confirming that the rumors are true! The full list can be found below!

For folks that are new to Trick ‘r Treat, the 2007 film is an anthology. The movie tells four short stories that all take place on Halloween night. Each story has an appearance by Sam, the little spirit with a burlap sack and orange pajamas and enforces the “rules” of Halloween. The film practically oozes everything Halloween, jack o’ lanterns, candy, monsters, ghosts, and all kinds of spooky goodness! While the film was initially shot and planned for a theatrical release, due to pushbacks, the film only managed to have various festival screenings before quietly being pushed to home media in 2009. It was here that the film managed to find its audience, through word of mouth and fans sharing with their friends! This upcoming screening will be the first theatrical release for the cult hit, and Sam can take his place on the big screen once and for all!
Terror in the Theater!
There is a little bit of everything in Trick ‘R Treat, but fans won’t just have the one film to satisfy their cravings this Halloween season. The list of films is almost a complete list of horror representation from every decade, from the 30’s to the early 2000’s (minus the 40’s). If you’re a fan of slashers, Halloween and Scream 2 are for you! Halloween needs no introduction, the film introduced the world to Michael Meyers, the iconic slasher who preys upon unsuspecting victims. No doubt the film’s return to theaters is due to the latest installment of the franchise, Halloween Ends, hitting theaters October 14th. Scream 2, on the other hand, is a follow-up to Wes Craven’s 1996 slasher hit! The film, also directed by Craven, follows a group of teens that are not only aware of the cliches of the horror genre, but also the horror sequel. The end result is a hilariously self-aware, but still scary, film that is a worthy successor of the first.
If you like classic Universal monsters, The Bride of Frankenstein, The Mummy, and Creature from the Black Lagoon are sure to satisfy your cravings! All three films are critically praised for their use of suspense and top tier special effects for the time. Bride of Frankenstein is still considered by many to be one of the greatest of the Universal horror films, and a worthy follow-up to Boris Karloff’s first appearance as the monster.
Dawn of the Dead is another fantastic sequel and widely considered to be one of the greatest zombie movies. The film follows a group of survivors in the middle of a zombie apocalypse who take refuge in a local Pittsburgh mall. As a follow-up, the film is meant to signify the effects of a zombie outbreak on a larger scale than its predecessor, Night of the Living Dead. Because of its success, the mall is now a popular setting for zombie media to this day!
Finally, there is The Lost Boys! The film follows two brothers who stumble across a town that is a frequent stomping ground for vampires. The film was credited for bringing a sexy youthful angle to the vampire myth, and continues to be referenced in vampire media to this day.
As audiences are slowly returning to theaters, it has been well confirmed that re-screenings of older movies are just as successful as modern releases. And as the Spirit Halloweens are popping up all over the country, horror fans are getting excited for their favorite time of the year. Warner Bros. is gearing up for a fun theatrical season.
