Warner Bros. and Appian Way partners Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson Killoran are teaming up for yet another remake of The Island of Dr. Moreau.

The producers have hired Hemlock Grove creators Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy to write the script for a modernized version of H.G. Wells' classic novel, which is being crafted as a sci-fi film with a timely message about ecology.

The story follows Edward Prendick, who survives a shipwreck and finds Noble's Isle, and the enigmatic Dr. Moreau, a former psychologist who has created human-like animals on this deserted island.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson Killoran are producing alongside Michael Connolly of Mad Hatter Entertainment. No production schedule was given.

H.G. Wells novel has been adapted into feature films several times, including 1933's Island of Lost Souls starring Charles Laughton, 1977's The Island of Dr. Moreau starring Burt Lancaster and Michael York, and 1996's The Island of Dr. Moreau starring Marlon Brando and Val Kilmer.
