As part of its recently unveiled catalog initiative, Warner Home Video said that it is preparing a 10-DVD collection highlighting the collaborative works of director John Ford and actor John Wayne. The Hollywood Reporter reports the centerpiece of The John Wayne-John Ford Collection, due June 6, is a new two-disc special edition of The Searchers, arriving on the film's 50th anniversary. The DVD comes with a 36-page reproduction of the original Dell comic book on which the film is based, a mail-in offer for a copy of the theatrical poster and other extras.

The collection also features a new two-disc special edition of Stagecoach, newly remastered and restored from the original Vista Vision film elements, and single-disc versions of six other films. Three have never before been released on DVD: the classic Western Fort Apache and the war movies The Long Voyage Home and Wings of Eagles. Rounding out the set, announced Friday: She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, They Were Expendable and 3 Godfathers.
