Over the past two weeks, LucasFilm has re-released the original trailers for Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope and Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back. Why have they done this? If a recent report is to be believed, the studio is planning on making a major announcement regarding Star Wars: Episode VII soon, and these videos may be whetting the fans' collective appetite for all things Star Wars. Today, we have the original teaser trailer for Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, which bears the original title Star Wars: Episode VI - Revenge of the Jedi, before it was changed by George Lucas. The teaser shows Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) wielding a blue lightsaber, which was later changed to green in the final film. We also see Alec Guinness as Obi Wan Kenobi before his "spirit" effects were added. Take a look at this fun bit of nostalgia, then read on for more information.

It should be noted that, since all three of these videos were released on consecutive Wednesdays, we should expect something big next Wednesday, October 30. Why? Because that date marks the one-year anniversary of Disney's $4 billion purchase of LucasFilm, and the announcement of Star Wars: Episode VII. Be sure to check back next week to find out if any official news will finally be revealed for Star Wars: Episode VII.
