Eleven years ago, Paramount released their hit comedy Wedding Crashers, which earned $209.2 million domestically and an additional $75.9 million in international markets for a worldwide total of $285.1 million, from just a $40 million budget. While the film solidified Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson as bankable box office stars, it also introduced fans to an up and coming actress named Isla Fisher, who had her breakout role as the crazed Gloria Creary. While promoting her new film Nocturnal Animals, Isla Fisher revealed that a sequel is actually still in the works.

Just months after the original comedy hit theaters, we reported in September 2005 that a Wedding Crashers sequel was in the works, with Steve Faber, who co-wrote the original movie with Bob Fisher, coming aboard to write the script. That news was never confirmed by the studio, originating from an interview with Wedding Crashers star Jane Seymour, who was told by the writer that a sequel was happening, and that she would return as Kathleen Creary. During an appearance on The Today Show, Isla Fisher revealed that Wedding Crashers 2 is apparently in the works. Here's what she had to say below.

"So, the first I heard of it, I bumped into Vince Vaughn at a party and he said apparently we are going to be making a sequel. I'm excited to see what happened to Gloria."

When asked if it's a "done deal," the actress had this to say.

"I don't really know about that, I probably shouldn't announce it on morning television, but apparently there's some talk of it, which is fun."

This news has not been confirmed by the studio, and it remains unclear if original Wedding Crashers stars Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Bradley Cooper or Christopher Walken will also be returning for the sequel. If this project is actually coming together, it's unknown if Paramount has a production schedule in place yet.

David Dobkin directed the original comedy, but his return isn't set in stone either. He most recently directed the 2014 drama The Judge starring Robert Downey Jr. and three episodes of AMC's new martial arts series Into the Badlands, which debuted last year. He also serves as a producer on Warner Bros.' fantasy adventure King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, which hits theaters March 24, 2017. Isla Fisher most recently starred in Keeping Up With the Joneses and The Brothers Grimsby with her husband, Sacha Baron Cohen. Take a look at the video from The Today Show below, with the Wedding Crashers 2 talk coming at the 3:10 mark.
