The Wedding Singer stands as one of Adam Sandler's best movies of all time. And it has plenty of fans from all over the world who love the 1980s throwback. They'll be pleased to know that Robbie Hart is making his triumphant comeback on the small screen next week. Adam Sandler will appear as the 80s prominent Wedding Singer in an all new episode of ABC's The Goldbergs.

A teaser for this The Goldbergs episode was revealed today, and it promises one of the most epic crossovers the show has ever done. It doesn't exactly feature Adam Sandler reprising his role as Robbie Hart alongside his true love Julia Sullivan, played by Drew Barrymore. Instead, it actually brings Lainey Lewis and Barry Goldberg into The Wedding Singer itself, cutting them into the climactic end of that fan-favorite comedy, and making them a true part of The Wedding Singer canon. In addition to Sandler and Barrymore, the teaser features Billy Idol and a brief glimpse at Jon Lovitz from the movie.

A quick glance at The Goldbergs creator Adam F. Goldberg's Twitter account reveals that he is a major fan of the 1980s. His main profile picture is of a Garbage Pail Kids and Goldbergs mashup with a banner featuring Masters of the Universe with his name written in the iconic font, so getting to make an episode placed in The Wedding Singer is a pretty big deal for Goldberg. He had this to say about the special episode.

"Thanks to our producer Adam Sandler, my 80s family actually meets the 80s most infamous Wedding Singer! This is my favorite episode EVER... I am so proud of it."

Obviously, having Adam Sandler as a producer on The Goldbergs makes the idea come to life a lot easier, but Adam F. Goldberg has been pulling some rabbits out of his hat this season. For the very special Halloween episode, he wrote a letter to Robert Englund and brought him out of retirement to portray Freddy Krueger on the small screen. Englund had told fans before the cameo that he was finished with the A Nightmare on Elm Street icon, but Goldberg's letter warmed his heart, which resulted in Englund delivering a valentine to horror fans.

The Wedding Singer episode of The Goldbergs will air Wednesday, January 9th at 8:00 PM on ABC as the Season 6 midseason premiere. Adam F. Goldberg is clearly excited about the episode, much like he was for the Freddy Krueger episode, which was awesome, meaning that fans are all in for a pretty excellent treat. Hopefully The Wedding Singer draws in some new audience members who wouldn't normally tune in for some possible new fans.
