While there were many amazing moments in the first season of Wednesday, that dance scene certainly stands out as one of the most memorable. Starring Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, the new series has been a big hit for Netflix, pulling in immensely high viewership upon its premiere. The series even managed to break the previous record set by Stranger Things 4 for most hours streamed in one week's time, instantly turning Wednesday into one of the streamer's most successful shows in Netflix's history.

With so many people worldwide watching Wednesday, there has been a resurgence in popularity for the song "Goo Goo Muck" by The Cramps. Initially released in 1981, the song is used for the famous dance sequence with Ortega's Wednesday Addams dancing along to the classic punk song's tune. Wednesday featuring the song for this scene has resulted in "Goo Goo Muck" becoming more popular than ever as new fans seek it out after hearing it on the Netflix series.

Per Billboard, the song, which is a cover of a 1962 song by Ronnie Cook and the Gaylads, has acquired a tremendous increase in U.S. on-demand streams. Since Wednesday premiered, the song went from 2,500 to more than 134,000. The correlation between the series and the resurgence in popularity of the song is similar to what happened with Stranger Things 4, which turned Kate Bush's 1985 song "Running Up That Hill" into a global phenomenon.

Will Wednesday Get a Second Season?

Wednesday has been a big hit for Netflix, and while many fans are already campaigning for the streamer to renew the show, it has yet to be officially renewed. However, its creators are hopeful to keep the show going for longer and have some ideas on where to take the story. Given the series' high viewership and positive reviews, it seems more likely than not that the show will be back for more episodes soon enough.

A reimagining of The Addams Family, Wednesday follows an older version of Wednesday Addams as she attends Nevermore Academy, using her supernatural abilities to uncover dark secrets involving the school's history - and her family. Miles Millar and Alfred Gough created the series, while Tim Burton executive produced and directed four of the first season's eight episodes. Along with Jenna Ortega in the lead, the show features an ensemble cast that also includes Emma Myers, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzman, Gwendoline Christie, Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Hunter Doohan, Percy Hynes White, and Christina Ricci.

Wednesday is streaming on Netflix.
