Wednesday includes a variety of relationships, such as the familial bond between the Addams Family, regardless of how brief it may be shown throughout the first season, to the romantically treated dynamics Wednesday has with Tyler and Xavier. However, in every platonic, romantic, or antagonistic dynamic that occurs throughout Wednesday's first season, the budding and unlikely development between Wednesday and Enid is the most significant the series has to offer. Both considered outcasts, they end up at Nevermore Academy, and although Enid is open and optimistic, Wednesday is less than excitable. But, of all the people who may worm themselves into Wednesday's heart, Enid may have the most significant impact.

Although Tyler and Xavier each play a massive role during Wednesday's time adjusting to Nevermore, Enid is one of the most constant presences as Wednesday's roommate. She even creates her own bond with Thing. Wednesday's growing friendship with Enid is shown when they look at each other for support before they go their separate ways to greet their families at Nevermore, as well as playing one of the more emotional roles. Wednesday and Enid's relationship shows promise to continue growing, but as it stands, the duo's dynamic remains the strongest in the series thus far.

Their Differences Are Highlighted

From the start, it is clear the dark and brooding Wednesday could not be more different from her bright and bubbly roommate, Enid. Although they are both outcasts, that tends to be where their similarities end. Still, in this relationship, their differences are part of what makes them work so well. From how their sides of the room are decorated, it is easy to see that Wednesday acknowledges their personalities and differences. But that does not stop them from getting along, as Enid is eager to become friends with Wednesday, even when Wednesday does not make friendship so easy.

However, Enid's persistence and continual loyalty eventually let Wednesday lower her guard. Although Wednesday allows her drive and curiosity to let her go into dangerous situations and not care, as she is willing to do whatever it takes to gain answers, Enid is not as ready to jump into danger. But, if Wednesday needs her, Enid will do what it takes to help. Wednesday and Enid never pressure each other to change or try and force the other to be something they are not. Instead, Enid and Wednesday embrace the other's differences, even if Wednesday is not immediately thrilled with Enid's sunny disposition. They accept each other as they are. This is a big difference from how Wednesday's other dynamics are portrayed, whether it be the school principal who is not thrilled with Wednesday's attitude; the town sheriff tired of a teenager trying to solve crimes, or Xavier's pushy attitude in hoping she will open up to him.

Wednesday Grows An Attachment

Wednesday does not grow an attachment to many people. While she has a bond with her family, the only people at Nevermore that Wednesday tends to trust are Enid and Eugene. While Wednesday considers Eugene to remind her of her younger brother, Wednesday's growing bond with Enid gets placed under the microscope more often, especially after Enid moves out of their shared room. After Enid moves out and begins commenting on making new friendships, it starts to affect Wednesday, even if she denies or is not used to feeling attached to people.

Wednesday is hurt by Enid's distance, just as Enid is hurt that she feels the need to distance herself. Although Enid tries to stay away, she eventually moves back into their room, and Wednesday seems happy with the change of events. Although Wednesday also shows growth toward making friends with others, no ulterior motives are occurring with Enid. Wednesday had seen Tyler as a romantic prospect, and Xavier had viewed Wednesday romantically as well. Throughout season one, Enid remains a solid presence who is not actively attempting to see Wednesday in a romantic light. Keeping their dynamic as a growing friendship throughout season one creates a solid foundation of trust between the duo and prevents unnecessary complications to their relationship.

A Stronger Bond Is Born

One of the critical details about Wednesday is how she actively does not enjoy being hugged. The affection of that sort is not necessarily something she enjoys, and more often than not either wants to be let go of or does not reciprocate. However, in the season one finale, that is one of the most significant changes. After Wednesday wins the battle, she is greeted by her ragtag group, also exhausted in the aftermath of the fight.

Relieved at seeing Wednesday alive and alright, Enid rushes to hug her. In the past, Wednesday would not reciprocate the hug. However, at this moment, she embraces Enid back. Such a moment indicates how far Wednesday and Enid have come since their initial introduction and how Wednesday has not lost trust in everyone following the shocking revelations about who had been attacking Nevermore's students. There is plenty of potential for Wednesday and Enid's relationship to grow, as Enid seems to be Wednesday's most robust and consistent relationship. Their friendship brings light to a particularly dark and gruesome series.
