Jenna Ortega’s teeth are one of the least seen things in Netflix’s Wednesday, thanks to the character’s constantly deadpan face. While she does become uncharacteristically happy for the arrival of her Uncle Fester, fans will have to check out the Wednesday Blooper Reel to see more of Ortega’s pearly whites as she does drop character a few times during the short video shared by Netflix on their official Instagram page.

Jenna Ortega completely encapsulates Wednesday Addams in the Netflix series. This is just one of the reasons she has been receiving universal praise for bringing the character to a new generation of fans. While many worried that the actress would not be able to live up to lofty expectations, the fears turned out to be unwarranted as Ortega crafted herself a place in Addams Family history.

As with every big production, some things don’t make it into the final cut when scenes don’t quite go to plan. Even though Wednesday may be known for her dour perception of the world, the blooper reel shows that working on the show was anything but. Check out the reel below.

How Did Jenna Ortega Keep Wednesday From Repeating Christina Ricci’s Performance?

Like any actor who steps into an iconic role once someone is already well-established, Jenna Ortega’s performance as Wednesday was being compared to that of Christina Ricci before the series even arrived on Netflix. However, while Ortega wanted to be respectful of Ricci’s role, she also didn’t ask her co-star’s advice as she wanted to make sure Wednesday was her own take on the character. She said previously:

"I think when she was on set, neither one of us said Wednesday once to each other. I think because she knew not to say anything to me... I don't think she wanted to get in the way of my performance and feel like she was overbearing. And I felt like I didn't want to pull up something that she did 30 years ago. For one, the sake of my own benefit, but two, yeah, I didn't want to rip her off, and I didn't want to be too much like her. I think our show has superpowers, and outcasts, and evil ghost pilgrims. They're two very different people, our Wednesdays, I think."

Of course, Christina Ricci also appears in Wednesday as Nevermore Academy teacher Miss Thornhill. Ricci was thrilled to be part of the production, as well as being delighted to be asked by Tim Burton to join the show, and she has been one of Ortega’s biggest supporters. She said:

“It’s super fun. I loved working with Tim [Burton]. I worked with Gwendolyn Christie, it was amazing. And Jenna is incredible. I saw some of the wardrobe photos before I went [to set] so I knew [what she looked like in character] and I was like, it’s such a great modern take on Wednesday. It’s so true tonally to the heart and soul of [the original], but then it’s incredibly modern and it’s great.”

Wednesday is streaming now on Netflix, with fans eagerly awaiting news of a second season.
