Westworld has really picked up the pace in recent weeks and now, heading into the season 1 finale, HBO has us all trying to guess what the big twist will be. Fair warning, if you are not caught up on Westworld through episode 9, there will be major spoilers ahead, so keep that in mind. For all of the speculation that has been made online by fans (and there is a lot), it seems like nobody, at least according to one Westworld actor, has nailed it.

Jimmi Simpson who plays the robot loving William on Westworld, recently spoke with Forbes about the upcoming season finale. It turns out, at least according to everything he has seen that nobody has managed to put the puzzle together for the Westworld finale. Here is what he had to say.

"I don't spend all that much time online but I feel like I've been forwarded quite a few things and I haven't seen anyone nail this. There are a lot of people coming close to some elements, but as far as the actual machine that's happening at the end, I think people will be refreshingly surprised and pleased."

By his own admission, Jimmi Simpson isn't exactly diving deep into Reddit message boards to see what people are thinking, but also, people are sending a lot his way. And people are only getting close. There are all kinds of Westworld fan theories floating around, such as William actually being a young version of The Man in Black and other such craziness. One major theory heading into an earlier episode of the season was that Bernard (Jeffrey Wright) was actually a robot and that turned out to be true. But last week a little bit more craziness was piled on when it was revealed that Bernard was actually modeled after the mysterious dead partner of Dr. Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins), Arnold. So with big twists like that coming out in recent weeks, who knows what HBO has in store for us.

HBO released a trailer for the Westworld finale earlier in the week, offering glimpses of what's to come. The Man in Black (Ed Harris), with the help of Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood), looks like he will finally be completing his season-long quest to uncover the secrets of Arnold's maze, with some violent results. Dolores doesn't look like she is going to go along with his plans quietly. It also appears that Maeve (Thandie Newton) is doing a fine job of building her army, but it also seems like she is going to discover that Ford made Bernard (Jeffrey Wright) shoot himself in the head. That isn't likely to sit well with her. There was a ton of hype leading up to the first season of Westworld and depending on how this final episode shakes out will ultimately determine if all that hype was worth it, or if all of these twists, turns and mystery will lead to an unsatisfying and frustrating cliffhanger.

With all of these massive reveals and a lot of other loose ends to tie up in the Westworld season 1 finale, HBO and the creative team behind the show have a lot to work with heading into tonight's episode. The network has already given the green light to a second season, so don't be surprised if we get a Walking Dead or The Simpsons "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" style cliffhanger. But hopefully, that won't be the case. We will all know who was right, who was wrong and what comes out of nowhere very soon, because the season 1 finale of Westworld airs tonight on HBO, so be sure to tune in.
