It looks like Terry Crews spoke a little too soon. Marlon Wayans has revealed that White Chicks 2 isn't officially happening at this time. Crews got fans all excited last week when he said he had spoken with Shawn Wayans about getting the sequel ready to roll. The news spread fast, even though Crews did not offer up any specific details about the sequel. However, it has been 15 years since the original and there has been some talk about the sequel for years.

As one can imagine, Shawn and Marlon Wayans were instantly hit up by fans and the media asking if what Terry Crews said about White Chicks 2 was true. As it turns out, Crews may have jumped the gun just a bit in his excitement. While there have been talks, and it looks like there will be continued talks, it's just not happening right now. Marlon Wayans posted a picture with his character from the original movie and had this to say.

"My face when Terry Crews tells the world White Chicks 2 is happening but we still don't have a deal in place... now every fan (in the) world wise dms excitedly 'IS THIS TRUE'?! Um... NO! Not yet."

When talking about White Chicks 2, Terry Crews said that Shawn Wayans told him it was officially happening. "Man, we're doing it, we're getting it going," Wayans reportedly said. Marlon Wayans has talked about the possibility of a sequel for years now, but nothing has officially happened. With that being said, Crews' remarks may have just helped the project score a deal with a studio.

The original White Chicks hit the big screen in 2004 and was far from a box office smash. Critics bashed the movie and it currently sits with a 15% Fresh Rating on Rotten Tomatoes. But, the movie became a cult classic when it was released on DVD and then again when it started to get played on television. Over the years, the movie has gained more and more momentum and there are clearly a lot of people who would be very excited to see it, as evidenced by Terry Crews' remarks.

While White Chicks 2 isn't happening right now, it will more than likely get the green light now that everyone is aware of how much money it could possibly bring in. It seems that the Wayans brothers already have a story in place, so let's hope that a studio, or even possibly Netflix, picks up the project and prepares it for mass consumption. While this is all good news, it is going to be hard to live up to the magic of the first movie, unless the Wayans have some pretty amazing ideas up their sleeves. Sequels to Dumb and Dumber, Anchorman, and others have proven that the long-awaited comedy sequels don't often measure up to the originals.
