Why Him?, starring Bryan Cranston and James Franco, has debuted the second Red Band Trailer. Over-protective Ned (Bryan Cranston) thinks Laird (James Franco), who has absolutely no filter, is a wildly inappropriate match for his daughter. See them go head-to-head when Why Him? hits theaters everywhere December 23, 2016

Over the holidays, Ned (Bryan Cranston), an overprotective but loving dad and his family visit his daughter at Stanford, where he meets his biggest nightmare: her well-meaning but socially awkward Silicon Valley billionaire boyfriend, Laird (James Franco). A rivalry develops, and Ned's panic level goes through the roof when he finds himself lost in this glamorous high-tech world and learns that Laird is about to pop the question.

Why Him? dares answer the question: Of All the guys his daughter could have chosen, why this giant scumbag? The movie is directed by John Hamburg. He made his directorial debut way back in 1998 with the popular crime comedy Safe Men, starring Sam Rockwell, Steve Zahn, Paul Giamatti and Mark Ruffalo. He also directed Ben Stiller in Along Came Polly as well as the Paul Rudd classic I Love You, Man. On the writing side of the business, he has penned screenplays for Zoolander and its sequel Zoolander 2, Meet the Parents, and Little Fockers.

While Jonah Hill isn't in the movie, he did come up with the story, working alongside John Hamburg and Ian Helfer, with those two writing the script. The movie is produced by Shawn Levy, Ben Stiller, Jonah Hill, and Dan Levine. And it promises to be quite the holiday diversion.

Why Him? is entering an overcrowded Christmas weekend, opening the same day as A Monster Calls and Martin Scorsese's Silence. It comes just three short days after the video game adaptation Assassin's Creed hits theaters, along with the sci-fi thriller Passengers starring Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence, Mark Wahlberg's Boston Bombing drama Patriots Day and the animated musical Sing. Not to mention, the first Star Wars spin-off Rogue One will still be clobbering the box office. Why Him? is the only straight up comedy arriving in this time frame, and as time has told, these usually do quite good. You can check out the latest trailer here courtesy of 20th Century Fox.
