Director Jean-Marc Vallée has been set to helm Fox Searchlight's upcoming drama Wild. Reese Witherspoon has already been attached to star.

The film centers on a woman named Strayed, who is trying to rebuild her life after being traumatized by the death of her mother and the destruction of her marriage. In an attempt to regain her sanity, she impulsively makes the decision to take a 1100-mile hike up the Pacific Crest Trail. She succeeds and pulls herself back together in the process. Reese Witherspoon will be playing Strayed.

Jean-Marc Vallée will be directing from a script provided by Nick Hornby. Reese Witherspoon is also producing with Bruna Papandrea, Bill Pohlad and Nathan Ross. No production schedule has been released.
