According to The Financial Times, Ridley and Tony Scott "have expressed interest in running MGM".

Apparently, there are "people familiar with the situation" where are saying that after MGM's auction, if it becomes a new company in need of new management, Tony and Ridley want to assume that role.

At present nobody knows if their production entity, Scott Free, would combine with MGM, or if they they just want "a stake in the recapitalized studio."

While it seems like MGM could do a lot worse than having these two hit makers/genre definers running the studio, at present this story appears to only be a rumor.
