Daybreakers has just added another leading man to its mix. According to Fearnet.com, Willem Dafoe will be starring in the vampire flick, alongside the already cast Ethan Hawke and Sam Neil.

The film takes place in the year 2017. Most of the world's populace has been turned into vampires, and they are farming the last of the humans for blood. A researcher, to be played by Hawke, joins up with a loose band of good vamps and they devise a way to save the human race.

Hawke said about the project, "I'm going to make a vampire picture and I'm going to chew on some necks. Willem Dafoe and I are dueling vampires. It's a vampire movie set way in the future where everyone is a vampire and we're all eating our own resources, so we're trying to get off on foreign humans. We're trying to get off of trying to create blood substitutes. It's a big analogy about what's going on now. It's really dark and weird and everybody's sucking each other's blood."

The film is being directed by Michael and Peter Spierig, the Kiwi brothers who brought us Undead. The film is currently in pre-production.
