Who is the real-bad guy in The Incredible Hulk? According to William Hurt, who plays the Hulk's long-time nemesis, General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, it isn't him. When asked by Collider if Ross was a villain, Hurt answered "Noooo. He's conflicted."

The characters of the Hulk have always had that conflict. While considered by fans to be a hero, to many the Hulk himself is one of the greatest menaces to mankind. Conversely, Hurt's character, General Ross, is looked at as being one of the Hulk's villains, yet is really just a dedicated career military man who is trying to protect his country, and his daughter, Betty. (Liv Tyler)

Hurt described his character:

General Ross, father of the paramour of Bruce, so-called nemesis of The Hulk. Wants Hulk's power but is humiliated by Hulk's conscience. He actually sees and occasionally recognizes that it's more developed than his own, even though he's a patriot and a warrior for his country, has sacrificed immensely for that purpose, but at the expense of - at times all of his humanity, which he occasionally recovers glimpses of. Interesting, you know.

However, fans don't need to worry that The Incredible Hulk will be purely cerebral. This film will also feature the Hulk's long-time rival, the Abomination, played by Tim Roth, and we can expect plenty of smashing between the two gamma-irradiated behemoths.

The Incredible Hulk, starring Edward Norton, William Hurt, Liv Tyler and Tim Roth smashes it's way in to theatres on June 13, 2008.
