Wim Wenders is set to produce the indie dramedy, Open Road.
The father/son film is written and directed by Michael Meredith, son of former football star Don Meredith. Variety describes the project as a love story-family reconciliation story and says it deals with the nuclear American family that we all dream about but few of us have. The movie centers on the adult son of a baseball legend who, together with his girlfriend, embarks on a road trip with his estranged father. Former pro athletes such as Yogi Berra and Johnny Bench also could have walk-on roles in the movie, Meredith said.
Open Road could go into production as early as this summer in Louisiana and other parts of the South.
