Warner Bros. has offered Colin Farrell the lead in Akiva Goldsman's feature directorial debut, Winter's Tale.

This fantasy is set in both the 19th Century and present-day Manhattan. The actor would play a young thief on the run who breaks into a wealthy man's home and ends up falling for his terminally-ill daughter.

Colin Farrell hasn't begun negotiations yet, but if he passes, the director also has Luke Evans, Garrett Hedlund, Liam Hemsworth, Aaron Johnson and Benjamin Walker in mind to play the lead.

Akiva Goldsman is directing from a script he adapted from Mark Helprin's novel. Production is set to begin October 15 in New York.
