Hugh Jackman has reportedly turned down an offer to host the 83rd annual Academy Awards due to his prior commitments filming the upcoming sequel X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2.

The Academy Awards will be held on February 27th next year. Jackman and director Darren Aronofsky will be gearing up to leave for location shoots in New York and Japan at that time, with X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 beginning its principle photography at the beginning of March.

Jackman, who hosted the 81st Academy Awards in 2009, proved to be quite popular, and was expected back for 2011's ceremony, as he told producers that he wanted to skip a year before returning. Now it seems we'll have to wait another year before seeing Hugh take the stage at the famed Kodak Theater in Hollywood.

Oscar hosts are normally announced by November 3rd. Deadline, who first reported on Jackman's recent decline to host the awards ceremonies, speculate that we will see a host announced very soon. And that the choice might be quite surprising...
