Within the next few years, 20th Century Fox's X-Men universe will undergo some interesting changes. Later this year, fans will be introduced to the Merc With the Mouth with the studio's R-rated Deadpool, while, at the same time, the X-Men prequel trilogy will come to a close with X-Men: Apocalypse. Next year, fans will also bid farewell to Hugh Jackman's iconic Wolverine character with the highly-anticipated Wolverine 3. 20th Century Fox has set a March 3, 2017 release date, but we still don't know when shooting will take place. Hugh Jackman recently spoke to Collider at the Sundance Film Festival, where he revealed that the script is complete.

"We have a script. A full script. To tell you, two days ago I got that the full finished-well, it's not finished, but we're getting super close-as you can see by the rate of my facial hair. That might give you a good clue that perhaps...yeah, it's sooner rather than later. I have had six meals today already."

Production is scheduled to begin sometime this year, but Hugh Jackman revealed that filming won't start until the Wolverine 3 script is "perfect." While the screenplay doesn't seem to be perfect quite yet, it seems they are close, which could mean production may start very soon. Still, the actor didn't know exactly when shooting may start, reiterating his desire to make the script absolutely perfect.

"I don't have a firm date yet. My thing and I've told you and I've told everyone, it's my last one, for me I want it to be perfect, so the moment I know it's perfect, bang, we'll go."

What isn't known quite yet is if Hugh Jackman's beloved character will have a cameo appearance in this summer's X-Men: Apocalypse. The actor took part in a cryptic exchange with director Bryan Singer at San Diego Comic Con last summer, where it was mentioned that the actor has been featured in every X-Men movie to date. Still, his presence as Wolverine still hasn't been confirmed for X-Men: Apocalypse, so we'll have to wait and see.

James Mangold (The Wolverine) is directing Wolverine 3 from a script by Michael Green, who is also writing the Untitled Blade Runner Project and 20th Century Fox's Alien: Covenant. Hopefully we'll get more updates on Wolverine 3 very soon as the filmmakers get this script ready for production. Are you looking forward to Hugh Jackman's swan song as Wolverine?
