Lionsgate has hired Jack Thorne to write the screenplay for an upcoming adaptation of R.J. Palacio's novel Wonder.

The story follows 10-year-old Auggie Pullman, who was born with a rare facial deformity that made going to a mainstream school impossible. For the first time in his life he has the opportunity to enter into a normal school as a 5th grader at Beecher Prep. He goes on a journey to convince his classmates that he is an ordinary kid with the exception of his handicap.

The novel made it on the New York Times Bestseller list since it's release in February 2012 and is still there. John August was originally attached to write the script, but lost interest.

No production schedule has been released.
