It looks like Cheetah may very well be the main villain in Wonder Woman 2. Fans have been hungry for any and all information they can get their hands on when it comes to the highly-anticipated DC sequel, but official details have been somewhat scarce, as the studio wants to keep things mostly under wraps for now. However, we now have word that Diana Prince may be going toe-to-toe with one of her most infamous foes from the world of DC Comics in the form of Cheetah.

The news has yet to be confirmed by anyone officially associated with the production, but a new report states that Cheetah will indeed be the villain in Wonder Woman 2 and that Warner Bros. is looking to cast the role currently. They appear to be going after a big name actress as well, as the report states they were targeting Oscar-winner Emma Stone for the part, but she reportedly has turned it down. Still, that indicates they're going to try and get a big actress to star alongside Gal Gadot. At the present time, there are no other names who are said to be in the running for the part, but American Horror Story actress Sarah Paulson did express interest in the role on social media last year.

There have been several people who have held the mantle of Cheetah over the years in DC Comics history, but it's said that the Barbara Ann Minerva version will show up in Wonder Woman 2. She's a British anthropologist who winds up becoming the cheetah god after locating the lost city of Urzkartagan and stumbling into the middle of an ancient ritual. Minerva first appeared in 1987 and was created by legendary comics writer Len Wein's. She took a break for a few years, but Minerva once again became Cheetah when DC launched their New 52 initiative in 2011. As far as abilities go, Cheetah has enhanced agility, ability to control animals, great intellect, can sense death, shape shift, is rather stealthy, heightened senses and super strength. Cheetah sounds like a formidable opponent for Wonder Woman.

While Cheetah may very well could be the main villain in Wonder Woman 2, which is said to be kicking off production this June, the movie's working title, Magic Hour is theorized to be hinting at the villain Circe. Could the movie be doubling up? We'll have to wait and see how that shakes out, but either way, the picture is coming together a bit. We know that the movie is set to take place during the Cold War and, somehow, Chris Pine will be back as Steve Trevor.

How a villain like Cheetah can tie into the Cold War in any way remains to be seen, but this could be pretty interesting. The question is, if not Emma Stone, then who will play Cheetah on the big screen? We should know soon enough. Director Patty Jenkins is back to helm Wonder Woman 2, which is set to arrive in theaters November 1, 2019. This news was first reported by That Hashtag Show.
