With production on Warner Bros.' Wonder Woman set to begin sometime this month, the superhero adventure may be adding an A-list star to its cast. The Wrap reports that Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman is in talks for an unspecified role in the DC Comics adaptation, described only as a "high-ranking Amazonian warrior." There is already speculation that the actress could be playing Hyppolyta, the biological mother of Diana Prince (Gal Gadot), but that has not been confirmed yet.

While no plot details have been revealed, there have been rumors that part of the Wonder Woman story will be set on the island of Themyscira, which has been Diana's home since she made her DC Comics debut back in the 1940s. It has also been rumored that another part of the story will take place during World War I in the 1920s, with the plot also taking fans to present day, which will reportedly tie into her appearances in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League Part 1. Wonder Woman is slated for release on June 23, 2017, five months before Justice League Part 1 arrives on November 11, 2017.

Gal Gadot is set to star as the title character, with Chris Pine portraying her love interest, Steve Trevor. It has also been rumored that Sean Bean is being sought to play Ares, the God of War, while Eva Green is being courted to play Circe The Sorceress, although their involvement is still not confirmed as of yet. These characters are said to be the main villains, with Circe reportedly using her mystical powers to coerce high-level government officials into starting World War III.

If this latest rumor is true, Ares will deploy an army of "red or green demonic monsters with horns and wings," to battle Wonder Woman, to prevent her from stopping Circe's mission. Circe will also reportedly turn into a Chimera-like beast during her final battle with Wonder Woman. Despite the three different settings that will allegedly be used in Wonder Woman, a majority of the action will take place in present day.

Patty Jenkins (Monster) is directing from a screenplay by Jason Fuchs (Pan). Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder are producing with Atlas Entertainment's Charles Roven and Richard Suckle. Nicole Kidman most recently starred in Paddington and Strangerland. She will next be seen Secret in Their Eyes, arriving in theaters November 20, and in Queen of the Desert. Who do you think Nicole Kidman could be playing in Wonder Woman?
