What we've heard is true. Wonder Woman will begin shooting this fall. Production is set to get under way in November. Producer Deborah Snyder (wife of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder) confirmed this important production detail while speaking at the Geena Davis Institute last week. This is what she had to say about hiring a director and getting the project off the ground in time for its 2017 release date.

"We still wanted a female director and we found Patty Jenkins, who had the right vision and the same vision that we had for the character. We're really happy that we're going to be going into production in November, it's been a really great process. We've tried to hire as many female members of the crew as possible."

Gal Gadot is starring as Wonder Woman in this first-ever big screen adventure for the DC Comics superhero. She will first be introduced in next March's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, where she will mingle, and possible battle, The Dark Knight, The Man of Steel and Aquaman. She'll then immediately appear in Justice League Part 1. Starring alongside Gal Gadot will be Chris Pine, who has officially signed on as Diana Prince's love interest Steve Trevor.

It was reported on the first of this month that Interstellar and Spectre cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema had signed on, with shooting to take place in Italy. He later denied that he was involved with the project, and no location has been confided at this time. It is believed that some of Wonder Woman will be shot in Basilicata, which has has been the home to big-budget productions such as the upcoming Ben-Hur and Mel Gibson's 2004 Biblical epic The Passion of the Christ.

There have been rumors in the past that this superhero movie will explore Diana Prince's origins in her homeland of Themyscira, and it seems possible that the Italy portion of the shoot could be used for these scenes. That rumor claims the movie will be set both in Wonder Woman's homeland, and in the 1920s, during World War I. Another report seemed to back that rumor up, claiming that Gal Gadot's title character will be "hundreds of years old" when we first see her in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

As of now, only Gal Gadot and Chris Pine have been set to star. Patty Jenkins has been set to direct, from a script by Jason Fuchs (Pan). It has been rumored that Wonder Woman, Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill) meet the rest of the Justice League at the end of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Other characters expected to show up are Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher).

Wonder Woman is set for release on June 23, 2017, just a few months before Justice League Part 1 hits theaters on November 11, 2017. Do you think this report of an Italy should could confirm rumors of the Themyscira setting in Wonder Woman? As we get closer to the proposed fall production start, stay tuned for official details regarding this highly-anticipated project.
