When it comes to trailers or any promotional material for a movie with serious hype around it, particularly anything from DC or Marvel, fans are always zealously determined to search every frame and second of material for secrets of any kind. Such has been the case for the upcoming sequel flick Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Per a report from CBR, avid fans have dissected a trailer released in Japan and uncovered a very small cameo of Wonder Woman, further confirming her presence in the film.

The surprise discovery was posted on Twitter earlier today by a reliable source named Multiverse Analysis, known for analyzing those materials. A comparison clip shows a screencap on the right of the exact frame and moment where Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman shows up and the full-length Japanese trailer on the left. In the screencap, she appears to be using her powerful Gauntlets of Submission to conduct a power of some kind, with what looks like at least a couple of people standing next to her. The context of her appearance in the trailer is unclear, as it's extremely short and clearly intended to be overlooked. Usually, such a character's purpose in the film is meant to stay secret until its release, possibly implying that Wonder Woman could have a unique, likely brief role alongside Shazam. However, her inclusion in the film was confirmed earlier, with Devin Faraci remarking on the Marvelvision Podcast that her role in the movie would be "not insignificant."

“Following up on the scoop that we had the last episode about Wonder Woman appearing in [Shazam: Fury of the Gods], last week we didn’t know what kind of role she’d play, I can now tell you that she has a not insignificant role in the movie, including at least one action scene.”

The Future of Wonder Woman in Gunn's Universe is Currently a Muddled One

Gal Gadot's appearance as Wonder Woman in the Shazam! sequel is an incredibly emotional one for some fans, given that Gadot's future in James Gunn's entirely revamped DCU is uncertain at best right now. Ever since Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman 3 film was scrapped, and the director left Warner Bros on less than friendly terms, it's all left Gadot in an awkward position of what direction to go in.

Gunn left the door open for her to possibly continue her role as Wonder Woman in whatever potential project he lines up, having already confirmed that the Amazonian heroine will make a return in his DCU. However, it seems, at least for now, that Gadot has chosen to stick by her character since, unlike Henry Cavill's Superman, who was deliberately scrapped from the Shazam! sequel, her footage clearly remains intact. Time will tell if she plans to keep the golden lasso and give Wonder Woman's next solo project another try.
