Fresh off his well-received thriller The Guest, director Adam Wingard is teaming up with longtime collaborator and screenwriter Simon Barrett for The Woods, which is being set up at Lionsgate. Very few story details have been released, although the thriller follows a group of college students on a camping trip, who ultimately realize that they are not alone in the woods. The production is looking to cast a group of unknown actors and actresses, in hopes of providing "maximum scares."

Roy Lee (The Ring), Steven Schneider (Paranormal Activity), Keith Calder (You're Next) and Jessica Wu (The Guest) are producing, with production scheduled to begin this spring. Jason Constantine, Michael Paseornek and Eda Kowan are overseeing the project for Lionsgate. No cast members have been announced at this time, but with production set to begin in just a few months, we should hear more about which actors are coming on board soon.

Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett have collaborated on The Guest, You're Next, A Horrible Way to Die and segments of horror anthologies V/H/S, V/H/S/2 and The ABCs of Death. Lionsgate doesn't have a release date staked out yet, but, depending on how long shooting takes, it's possible this may be ready for release in late 2015 or early 2016. We'll keep you posted with any new details as we get closer to production starting up.
