Woody Allen revealed today the cast of his latest film starring Jeannie Berlin, Jesse Eisenberg, Blake Lively, Parker Posey, Kristen Stewart, Corey Stoll, Ken Stott, and Bruce Willis. Co-stars are Anna Camp, Stephen Kunken, Sari Lennick, and Paul Schneider. The film begins shooting on location this month in New York and Los Angeles.
As per usual with Woody Allen projects, no plot or character details were revealed at this time. The filmmaker normally doesn't reveal the title of his films until post-production, sometimes until the first trailer is officially unveiled. The director did reveal to Deadline in May that he is considering shooting this latest project on digital for the first time in his illustrious career. While it hasn't been confirmed if he will shoot on film or on digital yet, here's what he had to say in the May interview.
"I've never shot anything in digital, but I think I will shoot my next film digitally to see what that's like. It is more than the wave of the future; it's the wave of the present, really."
The director's latest movie, Irrational Man, was released by Sony Pictures Classics last month. This untitled project doesn't have a studio home or a release date at this time, but his last five movies, Midnight in Paris, To Rome with Love, Blue Jasmine, Magic in the Moonlight and Irrational Man were all released in the summer movie season by Sony Pictures Classics. Irrational Man had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May before its July release.
We reported in March that Bruce Willis, Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg will star in this untitled movie. This will mark the third time that Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg have worked together, following the 2009 comedy Adventureland and the new action-comedy American Ultra, which opens in theaters August 21. This movie will be Bruce Willis' first appearance in a Woody Allen movie. Anna Camp and Blake Lively will make their first appearance in a Woody Allen movie as well, coming off roles in Pitch Perfect 2 and The Age of Adaline, respectively.
Woody Allen's new film is produced by his long-time collaborators Letty Aronson, Stephen Tenenbaum and Edward Walson. Executive producers are Ronald L. Chez, Adam B. Stern and Allan Teh. We'll keep you posted on this untitled project as soon as more updates are made available. What do you think of Woody Allen's latest cast?
