Director Marc Forster's zombie drama World War Z has been given a production start date, with filming to commence in June. Production will reportedly take place in the United Kingdom, Malta, and Hungary.

Last month, we reported that pre-production is under way at Elstree Studios in London, which indicated that production would start in June. It seems that earlier report is now proven to be accurate.

Brad Pitt is locked in to star in World War Z, although we haven't officially heard who his co-stars may be yet. Another report from April indicated The Killing star Mireille Enos is in discussions to portray Brad Pitt's wife. Anthony Mackie was also offered a role, although the actor is currently shooting Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter in New Orleans, so it seems unlikely he will be available for World War Z.

Marc Forster is directing World War Z from a screenplay by Matthew Michael Carnahan, which is adapted from the Max Brooks novel. The story follows the few who managed to stay human after a zombie epidemic spreads throughout the world.
