Lulu Wilson is back as the titular badass in The Wrath of Becky, the sequel to the acclaimed 2020 horror flick Becky. The sequel brings back Lulu Wilson to reprise her role, following the events of the first movie which saw her family targeted by dangerous fugitives, only for the teen to fight back in ways the convicts never saw coming. Hoping to put that traumatic course of events behind her, Becky has been pursuing a new life years later, but she's forced to get bloody once again once a new threat targets her family... and her dog. You can watch the red band trailer below.

The plot is reminiscent of John Wick, the Keanu Reeves-led action movie about a retired hitman who carries out his own unique form of bloody revenge when his canine companion is killed. Of course, Becky does things much differently than John, but nevertheless gets just as bloody. The official synopsis for the sequel is as follows:

Two years after she escaped a violent attack on her family, Becky attempts to rebuild her life in the care of an older woman - a kindred spirit named Elena. But when a group known as the “Noble Men” break into their home, attack them, and take her beloved dog, Diego, Becky must return to her old ways to protect herself and her loved ones.

Perhaps there will eventually be a third installment if The Wrath of Becky is well-received. For her part, Lulu Wilson figures that horror fans enjoy the character as she's relatable, in many ways. Wilson also says she channels her own rage to effectively play the character once the cameras start rolling, adding some authenticity to the role and further having the portrayal resonate with filmgoers.

"I put a lot of my own rage and my own anger for everything that is going on in the character," she said, via Deadline. "I think a lot of people are angry about this, and a lot of people are wanting to express their anger in the way that Becky does. I do know a lot of people like Becky and think there needs to be a few more people like Becky.”

The Wrath of Becky will be released exclusively in movie theaters on May 26, 2023.
