Alex Tse's script for the upcoming Watchmen movie has been re-written by the scriptwriters for Transformers, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, according to IESB.Net.

The Watchmen comic was written by Alan Moore in 1986 and is credited for re-defining how modern readers would read comic books. Fans have long awaited the opportunity to see a film translation of the Hugo Award-winning mini-series.

Zak Snyder (300) is directing the film for Warner Bros. studios, and portions of the re-written script are credited to him as well. The cast includes Patrick Wilson, Malin Ackerman, Jackie Earle Haley, Billy Crudup, Matthew Goode and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

Watchmen began shooting in Vancouver in September and will open March 6, 2009.
