Next year's Wrong Turn remake has gotten its first official poster along with a new title. As shown on the poster, the upcoming reboot will be called Wrong Turn: The Foundation. Otherwise, the black-and-white poster doesn't reveal much else, bearing only the silhouette of a broken pair of antlers. This goes in line with the new villains of the series, as some are listed on IMDb with names like Deer Skull, Ram Skull, and Wild Board Skull. It's just enough to make big fans of the series excited for the franchise's return to theaters, which will be happening sometime in 2020, although an exact release date still has yet to be revealed.

As previously reported, Wrong Turn: The Foundation will be a complete reboot of the franchise with no apparent connections to the movies in the series to come before it. Before this debut poster, we got a Wrong Turn reboot first look along with news of a production wrap earlier this month.

The story will follow a new group of young friends venturing through the woods of the Appalachian Trail where they apparently take a wrong turn and come across a hidden society of people who've been living in the mountains for hundreds of years. Called "The Foundation," this new group seems to be different in many ways from the inbred killers we remember from the other movies, but chances are they are going to be just as deadly to the unfortunate souls who manage to get lost in the wilderness of West Virginia.

Series creator Alan B. McElroy pens the script for Wrong Turn: The Foundation. In addition to writing the original Wrong Turn movie, McElroy is also known for penning Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and the Spawn movie adaptation from the '90s. This will be McElroy's return to the franchise since the original movie, as he had no involvement with any of the many sequels to follow. The Domestics helmer Mike P. Nelson will be directing with James Harris and Robert Kulzer producing. The cast includes Charlotte Vega, Matthew Modine, Emma Dumont, Damian Maffei, David Hutchison, and Bill Sage.

The Wrong Turn franchise began in 2003 with the original movie from director Rob Schmidt. It starred Eliza Dushku, Desmond Harrington, Jeremy Sisto, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Kevin Zegers, and Lindy Booth. Its simple plot follows a group of youths lost in the woods after a wrong turn getting attacked by cannibalistic mutants. A franchise was born and sequels would follow in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2014. While the set of victims would change from movie to movie, the films in the series all featured the same freakish cannibals terrorizing young people in the woods. With the upcoming reboot serving as the seventh installment of the franchise, the Wrong Turn series can be considered one of the more popular slasher franchises of the modern era of cinema.

Wrong Turn: The Foundation will be coming to theaters sometime in 2020 with an exact theatrical premiere date yet to be revealed. The movie will be here soon enough, and in the meantime, don't go get yourself lost in the woods and stick to the main roads when traveling through West Virginia.
