After several years of waiting, fans of The X-Files got their wish, with Fox bringing back the beloved show for an Untitled X-Files Revival, which is slated to debut in January 2016. Last week, X-Files creator Chris Carter shared the first photo from the set, as they were filming a "UFO test," but today is when principal photography truly began. Over the past few days, series stars David Duchovny (Fox Mulder), Gillian Anderson (Dana Scully) and writer/producer Glen Morgan shared a few behind-the-scenes photos as production got under way today.

We still don't know much about the Untitled X-Files Revival, except that the show is said to feature a mixture of The X-Files mythology along with a new "monster of the week" case for Mulder and Scully to solve. There was a rumor that also surfaced last week which hinted that the second episode of this six-episode series will be a sequel to the Season 4 episode Home, considered by many to be one of the show's best ever. The new episode, entitled "Home Again", reportedly centers on an incredibly strong and bizarre villain known as "The Band-Aid Nose Man."

Original The X-Files stars Mitch Pileggi (Walter Skinner) and William B. Davis (The Cigarette Smoking Man) are reprising their roles, with Community star Joel McHale guest starring as a news anchor who becomes an unexpected ally to Fox Mulder. No other cast members have been confirmed, but with production finally getting under way, we should learn much more about this series very soon. While we wait for more details to come in, check out the latest photos from the Untitled X-Files Revival below.
