As of now, the only confirmed cast member for X-Men: Apocalypse is Oscar Isaac, who signed on in November to play the villainous Apocalypse himself. A number of actresses such as Chloe Moretz, Elle Fanning and Hailee Steinfeld were mentioned as contenders to play a young Jean Grey in November, while Ben Hardy, Charlie Rowe and Timothée Chalamet were in contention to play Scott Summers, a.k.a. Cyclops. Today, Latino Review reveals that a number of new actors and actresses are testing for the roles of Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm, none of whom were mentioned in previous reports.

We reported in March that X-Men: Apocalypse is set in the 1980s, with producer Simon Kinberg confirming in September that the superhero adventure will re-cast younger actors for the iconic roles of Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm. Actors currently testing for Cyclops are Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service), Jamie Blackley (If I Stay) and Tye Sheridan (Mud). The Jean Grey contenders are Saoirse Ronan (The Grand Budapest Hotel) and Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones), with Alexandra Shipp (Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B) and Zendaya Coleman (Shake It Up) up for the Storm role.

Jeff Sneider from The Wrap revealed on his Twitter page that Tye Sheridan is the front runner for Cyclops, while former contender Chloe Moretz passed on the Jean Grey role. It isn't known what actors are the front runners for the Jean Grey and Storm roles at this time. Which actors do you think are right to play younger versions of Cyclops, Jean Grey and Storm? Chime in with your thoughts below, and take a look at Jeff Sneider's tweets for more on why Chloe Moretz passed on the Jean Grey role.
