While there's still much we don't know about X-Men: Apocalypse, it has been confirmed that the story will be set in the 1980s and it will round out the trilogy started with X-Men: First Class and continued with last year's X-Men: Days of Future Past. The story is said to focus primarily on the younger mutants from those aforementioned movies, but a new rumor surfaced today that reveals X-Men: Apocalypse will also feature two cameos from fan-favorite X-Men characters, along with the introduction of a new mutant. There will be SPOILERS below, so read on at your own risk. If you are not averse to spoilers, take a look at what Latino Review's El Mayimbe has to say, which includes the production start date for X-Men: Apocalypse.

"BONUS #HOT #MARVEL #SCOOP Source tells me that X-Men: Apocalypse begins principal photography in Montreal on April 28th & will feature cameos of Hugh Jackman's #Wolverine, Halle Berry's #Storm & get this...Channing Tatum's #GAMBIT! BOOM!"

We reported in October that Channing Tatum was confirmed to play Gambit, a popular Marvel mutant who he had been campaigning to play for months in various interviews. Gambit was previously portrayed on the big screen by Taylor Kitsch in 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine. A cameo from Channing Tatum's Gambit certainly does make sense, since 20th Century Fox has handed out an October 7, 2016 release date for the stand alone Gambit movie, coming just a few months after X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27, 2016.

As for Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry's cameos, it isn't known how they fit into the story, especially since it takes place primarily in the 1980s. Of course, Hugh Jackman's Wolverine did pop up for a cameo in X-Men: First Class, set in the 1960s, but perhaps X-Men: Apocalypse will show us more of the new "present day" timeline that was established in X-Men: Days of Future Past. It's also worth noting that Alexandra Shipp is playing the younger, 1980s version of Storm, along with Sophie Turner as a young Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan as a young Cyclops and Kodi Smit-McPhee as young Nightcrawler. It remains to be seen if the older versions of these characters will make an appearance as well. What do you think about these new details? Let us know below!
