While X-Men: Apocalypse continues to confirm its main cast leading up to the official production start in just a few weeks, we still haven't heard about a number of potential actors returning or being introduced. Among them is Channing Tatum as Gambit. His solo movie doesn't open until October 7, 2016 with X-Men: Apocalypse coming 5 months before in May. This has led many to assume Gambit will be introduced in this earlier ensemble adventure. Asked point blank if he was set to make at least a cameo, Channing Tatum doesn't seem so sure.

Promoting Magic Mike XXL, MTV asked the actor if he was going to appear in X-Men: Apocalypse, taking over the role first played by Taylor Kitsch in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Channing Tatum begins to give what is the usual stock answer, but there is a twist. He says:

"I don't know if I'm at liberty to say..."

This is when the MTV host takes his opportunity to jump in and say, 'That's a yes!' But Channing Tatum is quick to correct him, hinting that he actually doesn't want to introduce Gambit in an ensemble movie before his proper origin can be told first:

"You jumped the gun, there. I was about to say, I don't want to introduce Gambit until you can really explain who Gambit is...But there is a bicycle routine in Magic Mike 2."

His words seem to indicate that Gambit will in fact be an origin story about the Creole mutant Remy Etienne LeBeau who can mentally create, control, and manipulate pure kinetic energy. MTV goes onto ask Channing Tatum if he is really planning Ghostbusters 4 with Chris Pratt. In return, the actor offers a resounding:

"NO!"

What does that mean? Probably nothing. You can check out Channing Tatum's full interview here. He also offers some new insight into his upcoming sequel Magic Mike XXL:
