With production set to begin next month on X-Men: Apocalypse, director Bryan Singer has shared two new photos from the Montreal set through his Instagram account. The first image shows how the Cerebro set is progressing, which has come very far from the photo released one month ago, but, of course, there is still much work to be done before the final set is ready. The second photo shows the director on a different set showcasing an X-shaped staircase within the X-Mansion. The director also added that he broke the third metatarsal in his foot while on vacation three weeks ago, which explains why he can't put any weight on his left foot in the photo.
While these images do shed some new light on the production, there is still much we don't know about the story. Oscar Isaac is playing the title villain Apocalypse, with other new cast members such as Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler) and Ben Hardy in an unspecified role. They will be joined by X-Men: Days of Future Past stars James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Ian McKellen (old Magneto) and Evan Peters (Quicksilver), along with X-Men: First Class star Rose Byrne (Moira McTaggert).
We do know that the movie will wrap up the trilogy that started with X-Men: First Class and continued with last year's X-Men: Days of Future Past, with the story set in the 1980s. Bryan Singer is directing from a script by Simon Kinberg. As we get closer and closer to production starting up, hopefully we'll get an official synopsis in the near future. While we wait for any more story details to surface, take a look at these X-Men: Apocalypse set photos below.
