Last week, X-Men: Apocalypse director Bryan Singer posted a new photo that confirmed X-Men: Days of Future Past star Josh Helman is reprising his role as a young William Stryker. With production still ongoing in Montreal, the director shared yet another photo from the set on his Instagram page, where he's seen walking through a "ruined Cairo" on the set. It isn't known who caused this damage, but the safe bet would be on the villainous Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac).

We reported last week that Apocalypse goes on a mission to find his Four Horsemen, one of whom is Storm (Alexandra Shipp), who he finds in Cairo. In the Marvel Comics, Storm is saved from Cairo by Professor Xavier (James McAvoy), but this new superhero movie changes things up a bit, with Apocalypse getting to Storm first, making her one of the Four Horsemen. This is only speculation for now, but judging from this new photo, it seems that Apocalypse laid waste to Cairo while getting Storm to side with him.

The other Horsemen include Ben Hardy's Angel, Olivia Munn's Psylocke and Michael Fassbender's Magneto, who has been living a life of recluse in Poland following the events of X-Men: Days of Future Past. Along the way, both Xavier and Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) discover Apocalypse's plans, and form a new team of mutants including Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Jubilee (Lana Condor), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan) and Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee). The early romantic relationship formed by Jean and Cyclops is said to be one of the movie's three love stories, while Nightcrawler emerges as a source of comedic relief.

During the movie's Comic-Con panel earlier this month, there was a cryptic exchange between director Bryan Singer and Hugh Jackman, who has not been confirmed for an appearance in X-Men: Apocalypse. The director casually mentioned that the actor has starred in every X-Men movie since the franchise launched in 2000. Nothing specific was revealed during this brief exchange, but it may have hinted that Wolverine will be showing up in this superhero adventure after all.

X-Men: Apocalypse takes place in 1983, 10 years after the events of X-Men: Days of Future Past. Storm's upbringing in Cairo hasn't been touched upon much in the previous X-Men movies, so perhaps we'll get a greater sense of where she comes from in X-Men: Apocalypse. It isn't known how much filming is left on X-Men: Apocalypse, but we'll keep you posted with the latest photos from the set. In the meantime, check out the Cairo destruction in today's new image.
