Next month, 20th Century Fox's X-Men prequel trilogy will come to a close when X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27. This new adventure will be set in 1983, 10 years after the events of X-Men: Days of Future Past and 20 years after X-Men: First Class. Today we have a new report from Heroic Hollywood which reveals that the studio will be debuting a new trailer at CinemaCon in Las Vegas this Thursday, which will feature the debut of a secret mutant character. There will be potential SPOILERS below, so read on at your own risk.

This report claims that this secret mutant will be none other than Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. While no details have surfaced about how he fits into the story, this report claims that Wolverine wasn't originally scheduled to be part of the movie, but director Bryan Singer reportedly found a way for the character to be included in the story, which he pitched to Hugh Jackman. The actor reportedly agreed to be part of the movie, and shot his role during recent reshoots for X-Men: Apocalypse.

Since Hugh Jackman had appeared in literally every X-Men movie to date, most expected him to return as Wolverine, at least in a cameo role. You may recall that, during last year's Comic Con, the actor had a cryptic exchange with Bryan Singer, which many thought was a hint that Wolverine will appear in the movie, one way or another. The new trailer is expected to debut online later this week, after it premieres at CinemaCon on Thursday.

Last week, we reported that Hugh Jackman will start production this May on Wolverine 3, which will be his final turn as the beloved mutant. Patrick Stewart has also been set to return as Professor X, with Boyd Holbrook signing on to play the new villain, described as head of security for a "global enterprise," who squares off against Wolverine. 20th Century Fox has already set a March 3, 2017 release date for Wolverine 3.
