X-Men: Apocalypse promises to be the third biggest superhero movie of the year behind Captain America: Civil War and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but it might just prove to be the best Mutant adventure at the box office yet. A new TV trailer has arrived from Portugal. And while it's light on new footage, it will certainly get you excited for this trilogy ending climax!

Following the critically acclaimed global smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer returns with X-Men: Apocalypse. Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel's X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign.

As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction. 20th Century Fox has released a brand new trailer for X-Men: Apocalypse! Reprising their roles from X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past are Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Rose Byrne (Moira McTaggert), Evan Peters (Quicksilver). New cast members include Oscar Isaac as the villainous Apocalypse, Olivia Munn as Psylocke, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler.

There have been rumors that Hugh Jackman may show up as Wolverine, but that has not been confirmed at this time. The actor will portray the character for one last time in next year's Wolverine 3, hitting theaters March 3, 2017. Bryan Singer is directing from a script by Simon Kinberg, based on a story the director and screenwriter crafted together with Dan Harris and Michael Dougherty, who co-wrote the script for X2: X-Men: United.

20th Century Fox has slated X-Men: Apocalypse for release on May 27, 2016, putting it up against yet another sequel, Disney's Alice Through the Looking Glass, which also got a new trailer today. This latest X-Men movie will close out the prequel trilogy that includes X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past. It takes place in the 1980s, playing on the fears of nuclear annihilation and the ideas and ideology that was in play during the decade. You can expect President Reagan to make a cameo. And there will be other fun Easter egg surprises from the era.

Following the success of their spinoff Deadpool earlier this year, 20th Century Fox will start production on Gambit in 2016, and the studio is also developing The New Mutants and X-Force, although it isn't known when production will begin on those projects. There have also been rumors that director Bryan Singer will come back to direct X-Men 7, but that hasn't been confirmed yet.
