We know that Deadpool is getting a sequel and that Fox has a few other projects in development related to the X-Men movie universe, but the future seems very uncertain. As unlikely as it would be, if he had his way, Kelsey Grammer would return to the franchise for one of those future projects. The actor recently stated that he would have liked to do another movie as Beast in the X-Men universe.

Kelsey Grammer paid a visit to New York Comic Con over the weekend to promote his new series Trollhunters, an animated show produced by Guillermo Del Toro. Comicbook.com caught up with him at the convention to chat about the show, but the subject of his portrayal of Hank McCoy aka Beast in X-Men came up. Here is what he had to say.

"Beast was a riot, I think he was underused...I believe that they should have done another Beast movie, you know with my Beast."

Beast first appeared in the X-Men movie universe in 2006 for the third installment of the franchise, X-Men: The Last Stand. To say that the movie isn't everyone's favorite X-Men movie is a dramatic understatement, but Kelsey Grammer's portrayal of Beast was pretty spot on. However, his screen time was somewhat limited and the only other time he got to play the role was for a brief moment at the end of X-Men: Days of Future Past. So, we can understand why he feels Beast was "underused."

After X-Men: The Last Stand failed to perform at the box office, bringing in $459 million on a $210 million budget, Fox decided to go in a different direction. The next movie in the series, X-Men: First Class, featured a younger group of mutants and Nicholas Hoult took on the role of Hank McCoy. He has continued to play the part, as recently as this summer's X-Men: Apocalypse, but we don't know if he will be coming back for another installment or not.

It doesn't necessarily seem likely that Kelsey Grammer would get another crack at playing Beast in another X-Men movie, but we can't say it's impossible. Ever since X-Men: Days of Future Past the timeline of the franchise has been really messy, so depending on how the producers at Fox decided to go with it the idea isn't all that outlandish.

Afterall, Patrick Stewart is coming back as Professor X in the standalone Wolverine movie Logan next year, so why not bring back Kelsey Grammer's Beast at some point? As of right now, the only officially, definitely happening new X-Men movie is Deadpool 2 and that wouldn't be a likely fit. Other than that, there are still talks of an X-Force and New Mutants movie happening at some point, none of which have an official release date. It is at least nice to know that Kelsey Grammer liked playing Beast and that if the opportunity arose, he would be open to reprising the role.
