The tradition of hiding an easter egg at the end of the credits is nothing new among movies as a general rule, and superhero movies in particular - the cameo appearance by Samuel L. Jackson at the end of Iron Man immediately comes to mind. But according to, director Gavin Hood is taking it to a whole new level with X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which will apparently feature multiple secret ending on different prints of of the film.

That's right. There won't be one surprise ending at the end of the film, there will be different endings at different theatres - and presumably there won't be much way to know what ending will be seen at each showing.

Gavin Hood introduced the film at a screening on the Fox lot in Los Angeles when he revealed this news, where he also discussed the differences between the completed print of the film and the now-infamous leaked print that hit the internet a few weeks back. Hood didn't mention any differences in terms of content (other than the secret endings), but did discuss the fact there were 400 unfinished visual effects shots and both the coloring and sound effects were missing from the leaked print.

As for the ending at the showing? It featured Ryan Reynold's Deadpool. So, we know what happens in one of the endings. What we don't know, at present, is what will be featured in the other endings to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, or how many of them there are.

Leading up to the events of X-Men, X-Men Origins: Wolverine tells the story of Wolverine's epically violent and romantic past, his complex relationship with Victor Creed, and the ominous Weapon X program. Along the way, Wolverine encounters many mutants, both familiar and new, including surprise appearances by several legends of the X-Men universe. The movie stars Hugh Jackman, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Liev Schreiber, Danny Huston, Ryan Reynolds, Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins,, Dominic Monaghan, and Daniel Henney.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine hits theaters May 1st, 2009.
