X-Men: The Last Stand topped the U.S. box office with an estimated $107 million from 3,690 theatres during its Friday-Sunday opening -- the second-best Friday-Sunday launch of all time.

According to Variety, the third X-Men movie trailed only the May 2004 opening of Spider-Man 2, which grossed $115 million. Third place is shared by Shrek 2 and Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith which both grossed $108 million during their first Friday-Sunday, although both films did not open on a Friday (Shrek 2 on a Wednesday and Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith on a Thursday)

Sony has estimated that the film had topped six of the 20 foreign markets it is playing in: France, U.K., Australia, Mexico, Russia and Brazil.
